Course Objective :
This course provides an in-depth knowledge on operation & maintenance and optimization through drive test for GSM , 3G , 4G network.
Duration: Two options
- Class room : 10 days (full day) – Instructor led training with lab session. (OR)
- Online-Live : 20 days , 3 hours/ day – Live instructor led training with lab session
Eligibility:
Degree in Science/Engg. Sound knowledge in RF & digital communication is required. Students in prefinal/ final years can also join.

Any one who wants to work in technical domain in mobile telecom network in 2G , 3G and 4G.

2. GSM Network
- GSM network architecture
- Functionality of each entity in the network
- Channels and frame structure
- Call flow – MT , MO
- GPRS and EDGE network
- Networking planning methods
3. UMTS , LTE network
- What is UMTS
- Comparison of technologies –TDMA /WCDMA
- GSM/GPRS 2G and 2.5 networks
- UMTS network overview
- Principles of 3G communication – WCDMA and Coding methods.
- LTE network architecture
- Interface- core network and UTRAN
- UMTS & LTE key features and services
4. Optimization
- RF optimization overview
- Practical issues and challenges in RF optimization
- Different types of drive test tools and its description
- Practical on drive test and understanding its reports.
- Optimization of RF network, based on drive test results.
Practical/Hands-on : Vestel has its own GSM, 3G and LTE network in the lab
- Drive test tools for GSM 3G , LTE.
- Post processing of drive test results.
- GSM /3G /4G network test in the LAB
At the end of the course:
The candidate will be able to understand GSM/3G/LTE access networks. Candidate will be able to carry out drive test and do optimization.
